Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, has expressed delight at choosing Nigeria over England’s Three Lions at the international level. The 25‑year‑old attacker was born in Wandsworth, South West London, to Nigerian parents. He represented England at youth level before switching his allegiance to Nigeria after FIFA approved his request on February 10, 2022.
In an interview with the Italian news platform L’Eco di Bergamo, Lookman affirmed his satisfaction with the decision, saying, “I have no regrets; I took the right decision. This is my career.” He added, “I always wanted to play for Nigeria and I’m proud of this. I was born in England, but my family is from Nigeria and I have a strong bond with both countries.”
Lookman featured for Nigeria in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations, bringing his total to six appearances for the Super Eagles, with one goal to his name.
