Abuja Unveils Strategic Road Map for Smart City Project
Abuja is set to transform into a technology-driven city, akin to Dubai and Hong Kong, with the unveiling of its Smart City Project. The project, announced by Dr Ahmed Badanga, CEO of the group and Convener of the Abuja Smart City Project, is aimed at making 40 critical services, including governance, transport, tourism, health, business, and homes, smarter and more efficient.
The project, to be implemented in collaboration with critical stakeholders, will leverage technology to drive the city and automate access to critical services. According to Badanga, Abuja has the necessary infrastructure to become a smart city, and the project’s vision is to transform the city into a thriving hub by 2040.
The smart city project is scheduled to take place over several phases from 2024 to 2040. During this period, residents of Abuja will see significant improvements in infrastructure development and municipal services. The project will also focus on collecting and analyzing data to inform decision-making, with the National Bureau of Statistics, National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigerian Communications Commission, and other partners pledging their support.
In a remarkable show of commitment, Robb Moore, Founder of ioSafe Nigeria, has also joined the project, sharing his experiences from Silicon Valley to drive the city for the comfort of FCT residents.
