Nollywood Actress Slams Fans of Big Brother Naija for Ignoring Economic Woes
Destiny Etiko, a renowned Nollywood actress, has expressed disappointment and frustration over the enthusiasm displayed by fans of Big Brother Naija (BBN) amidst the economic challenges facing Nigeria. The ninth season of the popular reality TV show kicked off on July 28, featuring 28 housemates who appeared in duos.
Etiko took to her Instagram page on Monday to question why people can be happy about a TV show when citizens are struggling to survive. She lamented that people are hungry and that attention should be focused more on the country’s problems. In her post, she wrote: “E don red for our country and I still see some people dey happy about BBN. Hmmmmm nawa o oh una still get enough money for DATA Abi? If you guys do not complain, then who am I to do so?”
The actress emphasized her concern for the poor masses, stating that just because some people can survive does not mean that everyone can. Her comments have sparked a debate among fans and viewers of the show, with some agreeing with her sentiments and others defending their right to enjoy the show despite the economic hardships.
The latest season of BBN has brought excitement to many Nigerians, despite the current hardship. The show’s theme, “No Loose Guard,” promises thrilling twists and turns designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats for the next 10 weeks.
