The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi welcomed a wave of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday. PDP governorship candidate Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii received the newcomers in Abakaliki and affirmed the party’s readiness to win the upcoming general elections. He said, “The PDP, as a transformed party, has previously brought significant development to Ebonyi before the mandate was taken away, and we are now moving forward to reclaim it. By the special grace of God, we will fulfill our manifesto: every child in the state will have access to education, wealth will be created for the people, suffering will be eradicated, and jobs will be provided for the youth.”

Dr. Odii emphasized unity, stating, “This movement shows that the PDP is one family, and we will continue to unite for victory. Our party believes in peace and hopes the election will be peaceful. You are welcome under the umbrella that belongs to everyone in Ebonyi and Nigeria.” He urged residents to vote for the PDP at all levels.

Emenike Jeff, who led the defectors from Ugwuagu‑Ndieto Ward 2 in Izzi Local Government Area, explained that their decision to join the PDP was driven by a desire to support a candidate of good character for a better Ebonyi and Nigeria. “When I was in the APC, there were many things I did not like. As a peace‑loving person, I had to leave and join the PDP. I strongly believe in peace, and we will work together to deliver the PDP’s vision in my community and my local government,” he said.
