Biafran Group Warns Ndigbo Against Joining Nationwide #EndBadGovernance Protest
In a statement released on Thursday, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged Ndigbo across the country not to join the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest. The pro-Biafran group claimed that security agencies have concluded plans to carry out targeted attacks against the Ndigbo during the protest, citing a security report at its disposal.
The IPOB, through its spokesman Emma Powerful, alleged that the Federal Government has falsely accused the group and Mr. Peter Obi of sponsoring the protest as part of a sinister plan to target the Ndigbo for elimination. The group also warned that there are plans to sponsor criminal elements in the South-East to carry out violent protests, which will provide opportunities for security agencies to launch attacks against the Ndigbo.
The statement emphasized that Ndigbo are usually the victims of any protest in Nigeria, and therefore, they should be security alert and protect their lives and property during and after the protest. The group also urged Igbo people in the East, North, and West to be on security alert during this period of their protest, as they will be the target of the federal government’s brutal force.
According to the IPOB, Ndigbo should not join the protest against the leadership’s disastrous performance in Nigeria, as they are not the ones facing the same economic hardship that others are facing. Instead, the group suggested that Ndigbo should focus on supporting the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and advocating for a Biafran referendum to decide their fate in Nigeria or an independent Biafra Nation.
The IPOB stressed that Ndigbo will not be victims of the proposed peaceful protest, and urged them to defend themselves and their properties against hoodlums and tribal bigots who will capitalize on the protest to loot their materials in their shops.
The #EndBadGovernance protest, which is ongoing across Nigeria, aims to address the country’s economic woes and demand better governance from the federal government. However, the IPOB’s warning to Ndigbo comes as a stark reminder of the risks involved in participating in such protests in Nigeria.
