Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai has decided to complete his coaching badges in the coming months, 23 years after quitting football. The Nigerian legend was among the 250 students who took an oath of allegiance at the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Surulere, Lagos State, during the institution’s matriculation ceremony on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, NIS Director General and CEO Professor O. A. Moronkola urged the students to conduct themselves with good conduct and to sustain the Institute’s high academic standards. He noted that the first batch of polytechnic JAMB‑admitted students from the newly accredited courses attests to the Institute’s reputation. Moronkola also highlighted the recently upgraded facilities, made possible through the support of Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare, and cautioned the students to stay focused on their academic pursuits, emphasizing that they are partners in progress with NIS.
Rufai, one of the matriculating students, said he chose to study at the Institute to broaden his knowledge and further impact the youth.
