Benue State’s Former Governor Samuel Ortom Calls for Unity Among PDP Factions
In a bid to promote peace and harmony within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has appealed to all factions to put aside their differences and work together.
Ortom made the call in a statement issued by his media aide, Terver Akase, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi. According to the statement, the former governor believes that differing opinions and positions are inevitable in politics, but they can ultimately serve to deepen the democratic process and enrich discourses within political parties.
Ortom, who has a long-standing relationship and mutual respect with his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, emphasized that he and Senator Suswam are committed to finding amicable solutions to political disagreements that may arise, prioritizing the greater good of the party and its members.
The former governor commended PDP members in the 23 local government areas of the state for their peaceful conduct in the recently concluded ward congresses and urged them to maintain the same spirit during the forthcoming local government and state congresses.
Ortom also called on party members to support the State Caretaker Committee of the party, set up by the National Working Committee, to enable it to succeed in its assignment.
The statement, which was made available to newsmen in Makurdi, emphasizes the importance of unity and cooperation within the party, as it strives to overcome the challenges it faces.
By focusing on shared objectives and aspirations, PDP members can work together to promote the party’s interests and contribute to the growth and development of the country.
