Taiwo Micheal, a fashion designer and wife of Michael Gabriel, recounts how she learned that her husband had been shot by a stray bullet during a protest in Ogun State. Initially, when she saw the video online, she did not recognize him. It was only after receiving multiple calls from people asking if she knew what had happened that she realized the man in the footage was her husband. She was then informed that he had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta.
Gabriel’s friend, Monsuru Kushimo, explained that they had gone out together, unaware that a protest was taking place. When the unrest began, Kushimo sought shelter in a nearby house until the riot subsided, not knowing that his friend had been hit. He later learned that Gabriel was first taken to the General Hospital, but was subsequently transferred to the Federal Medical Centre.
Taiwo now urges Nigerians to support both her children and her hospitalized husband.
