Kylian Mbappé Seeks 55 Million Euros from PSG in Long-Running Dispute
Kylian Mbappé, the 25-year-old French football superstar, has taken his dispute with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to the next level, demanding 55 million euros allegedly owed to him by the Qatari-owned club.
According to French media outlet Le Monde, the amount includes a bonus promised when Mbappé joined PSG in 2017, his last three months’ wages, and an additional “ethical bonus.” The 2018 World Cup champion reportedly referred the matter to the legal committee of the Clubs’ Association in early August, and later to the UEFA through the French Football Federation in mid-August.
PSG maintains that the sum claimed was not paid because the parties found a common ground. Mbappé allegedly consented to giving up on the money if he left the club on a free transfer. The dispute has been ongoing for nearly a year, with Mbappé reportedly telling PSG last year that he would not activate a 2025 contract option.
Mbappé’s side is now awaiting a decision by the bodies it has referred to. The star striker left PSG in May and subsequently joined Real Madrid, where he scored on his debut for the Merengue on August 14.
This is not the first time Mbappé has clashed with PSG over a payment dispute. The 25-year-old has been a key player for the French national team and has won numerous accolades, including the 2018 World Cup.
