The Adamawa State Police Command has appointed Afolabi Adeniyi as its new Commissioner of Police, according to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on Saturday in Yola. Prior to his deployment to Adamawa, Adeniyi served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Anti‑Human Trafficking at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
In the statement, Adeniyi assured the public of his readiness to police the state and urged citizens to continue supporting the police in order to secure lives and property. He holds a B.Sc. in Mass Communications from the University of Lagos and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko. He joined the Nigeria Police as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1990.
Adeniyi is described as a passionate, versatile, and experienced officer who has served in multiple operational, investigative, and administrative units across the nation. His previous positions include Aid‑De‑Camp (ADC) to the late former Ondo Governor Olusegun Agagu; Commander of the Nigeria Contingent in Kosovo, Bosnia, and Darfur; Area Commander, Yola, Adamawa State; Commander of the 16th Police Mobile Force, Akure, Ondo State; Commander of the 53rd PMF, Bama, Borno State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe State.
