Google Pay Unveils New Features to Simplify Payments
Google Pay, the Unified Prepaid Interface (UPI) payments app, has unveiled a slew of new features at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024. The company claims that these features will make it easier for users to make payments and transactions through the app.
Some of the key features announced include UPI Circle, UPI Vouchers or eRupi, Clickpay QR scan, Prepaid Utility payments, Tap & Pay with RuPay cards, and more. The app will also see several partnerships, aimed at making digital payments more accessible and convenient.
UPI Circle: A New Feature for Elderly Family Members
UPI Circle is a new feature that allows trusted individuals to make digital payments on behalf of elderly family members who do not have a bank account or a Google Pay-linked account. This feature can be particularly beneficial for older family members who need to make UPI payments. Users can opt for either Partial Delegation or Full Delegation, with the former requiring approval for every transaction and the latter allowing for a monthly limit of up to Rs. 15,000.
eRupi and Clickpay QR Scan: Simplified Bill Payments
eRupi, a direct benefit transfer (DBT) feature launched in 2021, will soon be supported on Google Pay. With this feature, users can generate prepaid vouchers linked to their mobile numbers, allowing them to make digital payments without linking a bank account to UPI.
The Clickpay QR scan feature will enable users to pay their bills by scanning a QR code within the app. This feature is only available when the biller has generated a customized QR code for the customer. Once scanned, users will see the bill amount they need to pay.
Prepaid Utility Payments and Autopay
Google Pay will also introduce a feature that allows users to make prepaid utility bills, similar to the feature found in Paytm. Users will be able to discover their prepaid utility bills once they add their customer data to the app and make recurring payments to billers who support prepaid payments.
UPI Lite, another feature, will get an autopay feature, enabling users to automatically top-up their UPI Lite account when the balance falls below a certain amount.
These new features and partnerships are expected to make digital payments more accessible, convenient, and simplified for users. Google Pay’s commitment to innovation is likely to benefit both individuals and businesses, making it easier for people to manage their finances and make transactions with ease.
