OnePlus 13 Launch Timeline Leaked: Flagship Smartphone May Arrive Earlier Than Expected
In a surprising move, OnePlus may be launching its next-generation flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 13, earlier than expected. According to a tipster on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website, the company has "advanced" its press conference for the OnePlus 13, which is expected to arrive as the company’s next-generation flagship model.
The tipster claims that OnePlus has tentatively scheduled the OnePlus 13 launch in China to "the end of October to the beginning of November." This is significantly earlier than the launch of its predecessor, the OnePlus 12, which was released in December 2022.
The company is reportedly targeting this specific launch window on purpose, aiming to unveil the handset by early November to capitalize on China’s biggest e-commerce shopping festival, also known as Single’s Day, which takes place on November 11.
The OnePlus 13 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s purported Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which is likely to power flagship smartphones from several manufacturers in 2024. The phone is also tipped to feature a 2K LTPO OLED screen, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor from Sony.
Other rumored specifications include a 6,000mAh "super silicon" battery with support for 100W charging, and an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. The ultra-wide angle camera and telephoto camera are also expected to feature 50-megapixel sensors, with the latter offering 3x optical zoom.
While the leaked information has not been officially confirmed by OnePlus, the company’s move to accelerate the launch of its flagship smartphone could be a strategic decision to stay ahead of the competition and capitalize on the holiday season.
