Arsenal Drop Points for First Time in 2024/2025, Draw 1-1 with Brighton

Arsenal’s Unbeaten Streak Ends with Draw Against Brighton

Arsenal’s blistering start to the 2024/2025 season has come to an abrupt end, as they drew 1-1 with Brighton in a thrilling encounter at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners had been on a high, following back-to-back wins against Wolves and Aston Villa, but Mikel Arteta’s men failed to capitalize on their good form, drawing their first game of the campaign.

Kai Havertz’s classy finish in the first half, assisted by Bukayo Saka, had given Arsenal a deserved lead. However, Brighton’s Joao Pedro had other ideas, reacting quickest inside the box to squeeze the ball under Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya and draw his team level just nine minutes later.

The game’s dramatic turn was largely due to a moment of controversy, as Declan Rice received his second booking of the game, leaving Brighton with a golden chance to take the lead.

Despite this setback, Arsenal will take confidence from their performance and will look to get back on track after the international break, when they face Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial Premier League encounter. Meanwhile, Brighton will host Ipswich and will hope to build on their well-deserved point.

The draw highlights the competitiveness of the Premier League, as neither team could quite claim three points on the day. One thing is certain, however – Arsenal’s title ambitions will continue to be closely monitored, following this first setback of the season.
