Ebonyi State Governor Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has announced the approval of a new minimum wage for civil servants in the state. According to the governor, the new wage will be N70,000 per month, effective from September. The announcement was made on Saturday during the grand finale of the Ojiji Izhi New Yam Festival 2024.

Nwifuru stated that he has directed relevant government authorities to draft out modalities for the payment of the new minimum wage, which will commence in September. This development is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of civil servants in Ebonyi State.

However, the governor expressed disappointment with the handling of government projects awarded to prominent leaders in the state. Specifically, he criticized the lackadaisical approach to the housing estates project at Izo Autonomous Community in Ishielu Local Government Area. To address this issue, Nwifuru gave a marching order to the Commissioner for Housing to ensure the immediate painting of the houses.

The governor also called on the people of Ebonyi State to report any government projects being delayed by contractors. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in government projects, and urged citizens to play their part in ensuring that these projects are completed on time.

This development is significant for the people of Ebonyi State, and marks a step towards improving the living conditions of civil servants in the state. As the new minimum wage takes effect, it is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and overall well-being of the community.
