The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State announced that it has mobilised about 50,000 people across the state to attend Bola Tinubu’s rally in Port Harcourt. Chief Tony Okocha, chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Rivers State, disclosed this on Sunday after inspecting the rally venue in Port Harcourt.
The APC presidential rally is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 February 2023, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, the state capital. Governor Nyesom Wike approved the venue last week and waived the ₦5 million non‑refundable fee. Okocha said everything is in place for what he described as “the mother of all presidential rallies,” including security arrangements to ensure its success.
“We have come here to inspect the facilities at this venue, which has been approved by the Rivers State Government,” Okocha said. “One of the reasons we are here is to assure our presidential candidate that Rivers State is upbeat and ready for him on 15 February. You can see for yourselves what we have done so far, and we want to assure our candidate and the national PCC that we are prepared.”
When asked whether internal divisions within the state APC might affect the rally, Okocha affirmed that party members are united in their effort to deliver a smooth, hitch‑free event. “Even though nothing has been advanced to us, we have taken the bull by the horns, and no one will attempt to sabotage what the APC is doing in Rivers State,” he said. “We have pooled resources and mobilised at least 50,000 people from the 23 local government areas to attend the rally at this venue.”
The LOC chairman added that, based on the mobilisation, enlightenment activities, and feedback received across the state, Asiwaju Tinubu can win Rivers State.
