NFL Kicks Off with Pepsi and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Make Your Gameday Epic”
Get ready for the new NFL season as Pepsi has launched a new brand campaign featuring Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, “Make Your Gameday Epic”. The star-studded partnership celebrates the return of the NFL season and the release of Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated film, Gladiator II, set to hit theaters this fall.
Megan Thee Stallion has reimagined the iconic Queen song “We Will Rock You” for a music video-inspired ad, which showcases a thrilling epic battle between NFL stars Josh Allen, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson, and Travis Kelce as Gridiron Gladiators. The Houston rapper said, “I’m honored to follow in the footsteps of the legends who appeared in this Gladiator campaign 20 years ago and proud to have carved my own new legacy.” This sentiment echoes the sentiment of Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Pink, who appeared in the original Pepsi commercial 20 years ago.
The campaign, directed by Jake Scott, has been produced by Ridley Scott Associates, Paramount Brand Studio. Scott explained, “We wanted to create a visual spectacle that captured the energy and intensity of the sport while also paying homage to the iconic film and the original Pepsi campaign. The collaboration with Pepsi and the incredible talent involved made this project truly unforgettable.”
The much-anticipated film Gladiator II boasts an impressive star-studded cast, featuring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen. In a recent interview, Washington referred to the film as the “biggest film I’ve been on”.
Megan Thee Stallion praised the campaign, stating, “Pepsi really brought the worlds of music, sports, and entertainment together in a powerful way to set off the new NFL season. It was fun putting my creative flip on such an iconic Queen song and I can’t wait for the Hotties to hear it!”
As the new NFL season gets underway, Pepsi and Megan Thee Stallion are set to make your gameday epic. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as the partnership unfolds.
