Terrorism and Organized Crime: NAFDAC Urged to Regulate Drugs and Controlled Products

The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Major General Adamu Laka, has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to play a crucial role in combating terrorism and organized crimes in the country. Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations, Laka emphasized the importance of NAFDAC’s efforts in regulating the manufacturing, importation, and distribution of drugs and other controlled products.

According to Laka, NAFDAC’s role is vital in disrupting illicit networks and dismantling the financing sources of criminals. He acknowledged the agency’s efforts in regulating the use of chemicals, which are often used in manufacturing explosives by non-state actors. Laka also pledged to enhance the collective efforts of the two organizations in combating terrorism and organized crimes.

The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, noted that the signing of the MoU was a significant step towards reducing death and destroying young minds. She emphasized that drug abuse alters the mind and pledged the agency’s continued collaboration with the NCTC to prevent people from falling prey to substance abuse.

The signing of the MoU between NAFDAC and the NCTC is a major step towards strengthening the fight against terrorism and organized crimes in the country. By working together, the two organizations aim to disrupt illicit networks, dismantle the financing sources of criminals, and safeguard communities from the scourge of terrorism.

In conclusion, the cooperation between NAFDAC and the NCTC is a crucial step towards a safer and more secure Nigeria. The signing of the MoU is a clear indication of the commitment of both organizations to combatting terrorism and organized crimes, and it is expected that their collaboration will yield positive results in the fight against these threats.
