The Road to Morocco 2025: Africa’s Top Teams Kick Off Qualifying Campaigns

The wait is finally over as 48 national teams from across the African continent embark on their qualifying campaigns for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025. The road to the 35th edition of Africa’s biggest sporting spectacle has begun, with 24 matches scheduled for the opening day.

The teams will be divided into 12 groups, with the top two finishers in the 11 groups that do not involve tournament hosts Morocco set to gain qualification to the competition. The qualifying campaign promises to be an exciting and intense one, with many teams vying for a spot in the tournament.

The action gets underway on Wednesday, September 4, with 24 matches taking place across the continent. Sudan will face Niger at 13:00 GMT, while Comoros and Gambia will clash at 15:00 GMT. Tanzania and Ethiopia will also face off at 16:00 GMT, with Libya and Rwanda meeting at the same time.

Thursday, September 5, will see more action, with Malawi taking on Burundi at 13:00 GMT, and Central African Republic facing Lesotho at 15:00 GMT. Congo will face South Sudan at 16:00 GMT, while Ghana and Angola will meet at the same time. Guinea-Bissau will take on Eswatini at 16:00 GMT, and Algeria will face Equatorial Guinea at 19:00 GMT. Tunisia will also face Madagascar at 19:00 GMT.

Friday, September 6, will see more matches take place, with Kenya facing Zimbabwe at 13:00 GMT, and South Africa taking on Uganda at 16:00 GMT. DR Congo will face Guinea at 16:00 GMT, while Sierra Leone will take on Chad at the same time. Togo will face Liberia at 16:00 GMT, and Morocco will face Gabon at 18:00 GMT. Cote d’Ivoire will face Zambia at 19:00 GMT, while Egypt will take on Cape Verde at the same time. Mali will face Mozambique at 19:00 GMT, and Senegal will face Burkina Faso at the same time.

Saturday, September 7, will see the final matches take place, with Cameroon facing Namibia at 16:00 GMT, and Mauritania taking on Botswana at the same time. Nigeria will face Benin at 16:00 GMT, bringing the curtain down on the opening day of the qualifying campaign.

The road to Morocco 2025 is officially underway, and fans across the continent are eagerly anticipating the action to come. With so many talented teams vying for a spot in the tournament, this qualifying campaign promises to be one to remember.
