Labour Party Appoints Ex-Finance Minister as New Chairperson
The Labour Party in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State has announced the appointment of Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister, as the chairperson of its National Caretaker Committee. According to a statement released on Tuesday by Zaphaniah Yohanna, chairman of the party in Kagarko LGA, Usman’s appointment follows the expiration of the tenure of the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC).
Usman’s appointment has been hailed by members of the party in Kagarko LGA, who have declared their unflinching support for the new chairperson. According to Yohanna, Usman’s track record of hard work, commitment, integrity, selfless service, and vast political experience make her an excellent choice to reposition the Labour Party. The statement noted that Usman’s contributions to the party’s growth and development, particularly during the 2023 general elections, have been significant.
In his statement, Yohanna praised the immediate past chairman and national executive of the party for their leadership during the 2023 elections, as well as His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, executive governor of Abia State, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, party leader, and other party leaders and stakeholders who attended the meeting in Umuahia to rescue the party from collapse.
Yohanna called on all party faithful and leaders to support the national caretaker committee under Usman’s leadership as they embark on their new task. However, Media Talk Africa reports that Abure has dismissed Usman’s appointment, insisting he remains the national chairman.
The appointment of Nenadi Usman as chairperson of the Labour Party’s National Caretaker Committee is seen as a significant move to revitalize the party and propel it towards success in the future.
