Tinubu’s Cap Design Slammed as Symbol of Political Deception

In a scathing statement, Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Communications to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has labeled the design on President Bola Tinubu’s cap as a symbol of political deception and disappointment to his supporters. Shaibu’s statement, titled "De-cap-itated!" released on Monday, targets the once-highly sought-after item, now described as a burden for merchants selling it.

Shaibu drew parallels between the fate of the swastika, once a symbol of the German army, now an item never to be displayed in public, and the Emilokan cap, which has become a relic of political deception and disappointment. He noted that even vendors who once proudly displayed the caps at traffic lights and street corners are now burdened by them.

"What was once a prized symbol of political fervour has become an unwanted relic, gathering dust as no one bothers to ask for them anymore," Shaibu said. "The caps, once seen as a beacon of hope and power, have now turned into silent reminders of promises unfulfilled, leaving these sellers with a product that has lost its allure and meaning."

Shaibu’s statement has sparked intense debate, with many seeing the Emilokan cap as a symbol of broken promises and unfulfilled expectations. As the debate rages on, it remains to be seen whether the cap design will undergo a transformation, similar to the swastika, or if it will continue to serve as a symbol of political disillusionment.
