As the tenure of the State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna comes to an end, the party is looking back on its achievements with pride. During a valedictory session for the State Working Committee (SWC) on Tuesday, the party highlighted its impressive performance in the 2019 Presidential Elections, where it secured the highest number of votes in the entire country, with over 700,000 votes, and over 500,000 votes in 2023.
According to a statement by Alberah Katoh, the Publicity Secretary of the party, the PDP made significant gains in the 2019 elections, winning three Senatorial Seats and 10 Seats of the House of Representatives out of 16. The party also won 14 Seats out of 32 in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, as well as five Council Chairmen and 123 Councillorship Seats.
In addition to its electoral successes, the party has also managed to navigate intra-party crises at all levels and provide a level playing field for all members to contest elections. The party has also produced the youngest National Working Committee (NWC) member, Prince Muhammed Suleiman Kadade, who was just 25 years old when he was elected as the National Youth Leader.
The party’s achievements are a testament to its commitment to democracy and its ability to build strong relationships with its members. As the party looks to the future, it is clear that it is well-positioned to continue to be a major player in Nigerian politics.
