Apple Expands Language Support for Artificial Intelligence Features
Apple has announced a significant expansion of its Apple Intelligence suite, a set of artificial intelligence (AI) features designed for iPhone and other devices. The update will bring new languages to the mix, allowing users to harness the power of AI in their preferred language. As of next year, the AI suite will be available in English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and "others".
Apple Intelligence initially debuted in US English, but the tech giant has since expanded support to localized English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. In 2025, the AI suite will also be available in Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
While the announcement is exciting, Apple Intelligence is not yet available on iPhone and other devices. The company plans to roll out the update with the upcoming iOS 18.1 release next month. Initially, only a limited number of features will be available, including writing tools, Clean Up tool, and web page summarization. More features, such as Image Playground and an AI-powered Siri, will be introduced later next year.
Interestingly, Apple Intelligence will not be available for users in China and the European Union (EU). The company has stated that the entire iPhone 16 series, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max from last year, are compatible with the AI suite.
This significant expansion of language support will undoubtedly benefit users worldwide, allowing them to take full advantage of Apple’s AI features in their native language. With the update’s rollout next month, iPhone and other Apple device users can expect a more seamless and intuitive experience with their devices.
