Ganduje Denies Plot to Remove Kano Emir

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC), has vehemently denied allegations that he is spearheading a fresh plot to oust the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

In a statement released on Thursday, Ganduje through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment distanced himself from the purported plan. According to Ganduje, as a former governor and Senior Special Assistant, he had nothing to do with the present or future appointment or dismissal of the Emir of Kano, who was removed from his role during his administration. “It is laughable,” Ganduje said, to accuse him of plotting the dethronement of Sanusi after years have passed since his tenure ended, during which he devoted his attention to leading the APC. “I’m happy with the contributions I made as governor, providing infrastructural development, democratic dividends, and good governance while in office.”

Moreover, Ganduje expressed discontent about the aim of his opponents to damage his relationships with the Nigerian presidency and specifically President Bola Tinubu, stating that there exists a “cordial partnership” and that the duo respects each other despite such malicious endeavors. These declarations serve as a further declaration of innocence, reassuring everyone of the chairman’s inactivity regarding the latest gossip circulating social media under a viral headline: “Ganduje leads fresh plot to dethrone Emir Sanusi”. This situation provides an exceptional perspective on political machinations occurring within the country.

Given his experience as governor during Sanusi’s earlier deposition, his dismissal confirmed in a court judgment where allegations arose regarding government intervention in the judicial process at that time. This story warrants international attention due to ongoing diplomatic developments between major figures and a glimpse of real-time Nigeria’s ruling faction, reflecting on previous successes in public service through different administrative spheres. It illustrates that certain leaders adapt smoothly from governmental positions and prioritize building bonds within government without interference.
