Elections Monetized in Nigeria: Pastor Giwa Reveals Shocking Truth

Elections in Nigeria: A Recipe for Foul Play?

Elections in Nigeria are once again under scrutiny following recent allegations of widespread electoral irregularities. According to the Senior Pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, Nigeria’s electoral system has devolved into a game of rigged numbers, where electoral officials are being bribed to favor the highest bidder. Giwa made the chilling claim in response to the outcome of the recent Edo State governorship election, which saw the All Progressives Congress’s Monday Okpebholo declared the winner.

While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) claimed Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes, his Peoples Democratic Party opponent, Asue Ighodalo, received 247,274 votes. Giwa maintains that these figures are hardly believable, given the entrenched problems plaguing Nigeria’s electoral system. "It’s unfortunate that Nigeria has ended up in this mess. I hardly believe there is an election again in Nigeria," he lamented. "What is happening now is ‘selection’, not an election."

The implications of Giwa’s assertion are far-reaching and stark. If electoral officers are indeed being bribed or coerced to rig results, it would amount to a catastrophic undermining of Nigeria’s democratic institutions. For Giwa, the situation is a harbinger of doom for the nation, with the current crop of politicians hell-bent on perpetuating their power grip. "Politicians themselves are the ones voting," he said. "Nigerians who don’t belong to any political party are not interested in voting anymore. That’s exactly what these crop of politicians want so that they can continue to rig themselves into offices."

As the ongoing debate surrounding Nigeria’s elections continues to rage on, one thing is clear: the country’s democracy faces an existential crisis. While Giwa’s accusations might be seen as dire predictions, they serve as a stark reminder of the high stakes involved in maintaining democratic integrity. It is only by addressing these festering issues that Nigeria can truly hope to emerge as a beacon of hope in Africa and beyond.
