Zainab Marwa‑Abubakar, a daughter of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), has launched a door‑to‑door campaign to secure victory for All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the upcoming elections. Speaking at the APC northern female stakeholders’ strategy session in Abuja, Zainab—who also serves as the assistant national youth spokesman for the Tinubu‑Shettima Presidential Campaign Council—pointed out that the North has historically lagged in voting patterns despite having a larger female electorate. Recent Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) data show that the North boasts over 21 million female voters, surpassing the South’s figure by more than two million.

According to INEC, there are 93,469,008 eligible voters nationwide, of whom 44,414,846 are women, representing 47.5 percent of the electorate. Among these women, 13,600,939 are housewives. The three northern states with the highest numbers of female voters are Kano (just over 2.5 million), Kaduna (just over 2 million) and Katsina (just over 1.5 million). Zainab calculated that the North’s total female electorate stands at approximately 21,021,189, putting it well ahead of the South. She emphasized the need for a clear, systematic template to mobilise northern women’s votes across the 19 northern states to ensure Tinubu’s victory.

APC Deputy National Women Leader Hajia Zainab Ibrahim echoed this sentiment, noting that women are emerging as a powerful force in politics and governance, even in the traditionally conservative North. Ibrahim urged party women leaders to intensify their door‑to‑door campaigns with less than two weeks remaining before the presidential election. “In every state, redouble your efforts in mobilising votes for our party,” she said, adding that the women present at the session constitute “the greatest battalion of foot soldiers” capable of making Tinubu’s presidency a reality.

To involve every stakeholder in the APC campaign, the party has undertaken extensive outreach across northern Nigeria—traveling by road, air, and even canoe across rivers—to meet elected women leaders, engage critical stakeholders, conduct market‑arena campaigns, and distribute promotional materials such as wrappers, hijabs, stickers, customised aprons and pamphlets. This comprehensive effort aims to galvanise support and secure a decisive win for the APC and its candidates.
