FFXVI May Come to Xbox, But No Timeline Yet

Square Enix has given fans of the popular action-RPG series Final Fantasy a glimmer of hope regarding the potential release of Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox. In a recent interview, producer Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, revealed that the company wants to release an Xbox port of the game, but a timeline for its release remains uncertain.

Yoshida stated that Square Enix announced the PC version of the game, and now they are looking towards the Xbox version, expressing their desire to release it on the platform. However, he added that the company cannot share any specific details about the release date, leaving fans eagerly waiting for more information.

The producer did urge Xbox players not to lose hope, assuring them that Square Enix is committed to making the game available on the Xbox console. “But of course, I want to say that it’s not as if there’s zero hope, and we very much do want to achieve that. So players should not give up in terms of their hopes,” Yoshida said.

Final Fantasy XVI was initially released exclusively on the PS5 in June 2023, followed by its launch on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store last month. The game’s availability on Xbox remains a mystery, with neither Square Enix nor Microsoft confirming a release date.

This update comes as Square Enix has been reevaluating its strategy following disappointing sales of its recent big-budget games, including Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Foamstars. The company’s CEO, Takashi Kiryu, has announced plans to shift towards multi-platform launches, making big releases available across PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC.

Fans of the Final Fantasy series will be keeping a close eye on any further updates regarding the Xbox release of Final Fantasy XVI.
