New Generation of Productivity-Cultured Nigerians Takes Center Stage
The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to shift their focus from obtaining university degrees to acquiring skills and investing in technological advancement. This call to action was made by Baffa Dan Agundi, Director General of the National Productivity Centre, at the National Unity Robot Project held at the National Stadium in Abuja.
Agundi emphasized that many skilled artisans without degrees, such as vulcanizers, generate more revenue than the average graduate in the civil service. He urged parents to reconsider rushing their children through schools, instead encouraging them to develop skills that can enhance their productivity and potential.
The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools President, Dr Samira Jibir, also expressed her enthusiasm for Nigeria’s rapid advancements in technology, particularly in robotics. She believes that the country is on the cusp of something extraordinary, with the potential to redefine its future and unite the nation.
The U-Robot project coordinator, Harvest Ibrahim, revealed that the initiative aims to involve millions of children across Nigeria in a new, exciting capital project. The program will train 10,000 participants aged two to 15 in robotics, AI, and mechanical systems, preparing them to become a new generation of productivity-cultured Nigerians.
Agundi’s remarks highlighted the importance of skill acquisition, citing the example of vulcanizers who earn more than graduates in the civil service. He stressed the need for Nigerians to change their mindset and focus on becoming productive.
Ibrahim’s comments underscored the significance of robotics in Nigeria’s development, reflecting the global trend of integrating automation, artificial intelligence, and mechanical systems into various sectors.
