Paris Saint‑Germain striker Kylian Mbappé has returned to training faster than expected ahead of the Champions League round‑of‑16 first‑leg home tie with Bayern Munich on Tuesday. Mbappé suffered a thigh injury against Montpellier on 1 February, and the club initially announced he would be out for three weeks.
On Saturday, coach Christophe Galtier expressed doubt that Mbappé would be available for Tuesday’s match, saying, “I don’t think so. He follows his rehabilitation protocol. He was a victim of a muscle injury. We will take zero, zero, zero risk with Kylian.” However, Mbappé trained on Sunday and was seen on Monday taking part in the portion of training open to the media. He participated in an exercise alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marco Verratti, Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos.
Qatari‑owned PSG are eager to stay on course to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.
