Youth Revolution on the Horizon: Ex-FBauchi Deputy Governor Warns of Growing Unrest

In a dire warning, former Bauchi Deputy Governor, Sule Katagum, has sounded the alarm over a potential youth-led revolution in Nigeria, citing widespread neglect and increasing hardship faced by young people. Katagum spoke during the 1st Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youths summit in Bauchi, where he expressed deep concerns about the growing frustration among the youth.

The ex-deputy governor blamed the lack of national philosophy, creativity, and accountability across various sectors, arguing that it has led to widespread frustration among young people. He emphasized that the rise in political chaos, societal immorality, and economic corruption has created a national malaise, leaving the youth with a bleak future.

Katagum also targeted the older generation, stating that they had failed to create a country the youth can take pride in. He tied the blame to the erosion of values, citing corruption and a focus on material wealth. He lamented that the youth are growing up in an environment filled with despair, and warned that unless leaders change their ways, the youth may soon push for radical change.

In a second address, former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi (SAN) encouraged youths to avoid becoming tools for political violence and to harness their numbers and potential to create positive change. His message was one of unity and hope, urging young people to use their collective strength to create a better future for themselves and their nation.

As the world watches, Nigeria’s youth continue to grapple with the challenges of a rapidly changing society. Will they hold on to the warning signs of growing unrest, or will they rise above the noise to create a brighter tomorrow? Only time will tell.
