Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, Urges Patience for President Tinubu’s Reforms
During an event in Awka, Anambra State, where she distributed aid to the less fortunate, Minister of Women Affairs Uju Kennedy Ohanenye urged Nigerians to remain patient as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu works to improve the country.
The distribution included 5,000 bags of 10 kg rice, 300 gas cylinders, and 500 bags of 50 kg fertilizer.
“I ask for your patience with the president. He is committed to reversing the detrimental practices that have hindered our economy. With time, you will see improvements. He needs to address the challenges left by previous administrations. Conditions were dire before President Tinubu took office, and he is striving to bring happiness to Nigerians,” she said.
Ohanenye highlighted the Tinubu administration’s social security initiatives aimed at supporting the vulnerable, especially the poor. She encouraged citizens to submit their Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs) to help the government identify those eligible for federal assistance.
“The BVN is crucial for targeting the poor, not the wealthy, who have historically monopolized these resources,” she emphasized.
Mrs. Yinka Okpeke, CEO of Smart Gas, also spoke at the event, noting their partnership with the Women’s Ministry to help women who rely on firewood for cooking.
“We are focused on alleviating hardship for women and providing alternatives,” she explained.
Chief Basil Ejidike, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, praised the government’s efforts. He encouraged citizens to support President Tinubu in his mission to reshape Nigeria, stating, “The country was in disarray, and the president is working to improve it for everyone’s benefit.”
