PDP’s Landslide Victory in Plateau State Council Elections
In a landmark success, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 10 of the councils declared by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC). This significant achievement comes as the results of seven local governments remain undisclosed, revealing the party’s dominance in the state’s council polls.
The councils declared in favor of the PDP were Bassa, Jos South, Riyom, Kanam, Barkin Ladi, Mikang, Jos East, Langtang South, Quaan Pan, and Shendam. The announcement was made by PLASIEC’s Chairman, Plangji Cishak, in a ceremony held in Jos, the state capital, on Thursday. According to Cishak, the results from the remaining seven local governments – Bokkos, Jos North, Pankshin, Kanke, Mangu, Langtang North, and Wase – are still being collated.
While the outcome of the remaining local governments remains uncertain, the PDP’s impressive start has undoubtedly pitched them as strong contenders in the council polls. Only time will tell how this sweep of 10 councils will shape the future of the state and its aspiring leaders.
Note: The people of Plateau State will anxiously await the outcome of the remaining local governments, as the stage is set for an electrifying contest. The battle for control of the state’s local governments has begun, with the PDP already making a bold statement.
