No Division in PDP, Says Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed recent rumors of internal divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the party remains intact and will resolve its internal crisis amicably.
The governor, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, made the declaration after a closed-door meeting with party stakeholders in Bauchi on Friday. This comes amid reports of a purported suspension of the party’s national chairman, Umar Damagum, by a faction of the National Working Committee, NWC, and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.
However, the Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the National Executive Committee, NEC, and Board of Trustees, BoT, from removing Damagum as acting national chairman until the party’s national convention in December 2025.
Mohammed emphasized that the PDP is actively working towards resolving internal issues through collaboration among key party stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, Governors’ Forum, Senate and House caucuses, and high-ranking party members.
“We will not allow a gap to grow and will ensure that all these issues are resolved,” he said. “We are not recognizing any faction; we are together as a body, and we will resolve all issues.”
The governor assured that consultations with fellow PDP governors are ongoing to determine the next steps, with a shared goal of restoring the party’s glory and achieving victory in the 2027 elections.
In a bid to resolve the crisis, the PDP has agreed to work together to address the issues affecting the party, with Mohammed emphasizing that the final decision does not rest on him alone but on other key stakeholders within the party.
It is clear that the PDP is committed to resolving its internal issues and coming together to resolve the ongoing challenges, with a strong showing for the 2027 elections.
