PDP to Shock APC in Ondo Election – Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde Confident of PDP Victory in Ondo Election

In a bold statement, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, will be left stunned by the outcome of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State. Makinde, who doubles as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West, expressed confidence that his party will emerge victorious, not just in Ondo, but also in subsequent elections in the region.

Ganduje had earlier boasted that the APC would capture the South West states, starting with Ondo, after winning the upcoming election. Similarly, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa declared that the PDP was “dead” in the state. However, Makinde disagrees, saying that the PDP remains a vibrant force in Ondo State. The governor led the PDP campaign train to the Akoko axis of the state, where he assured supporters that his party is determined to win the election.

Makinde pointed out that the APC has become a major obstacle for Nigerians, and that the people of the South West, particularly in Ondo State, are wise enough to see through the APC’s empty promises. He said, “If wishes were horses, everybody would be riding them. I can tell you that the people of the South West of Nigeria are wiser, especially in Ondo State, where we are here (Akoko area).” He also drew attention to the large and enthusiastic crowd that had gathered to support the PDP, saying, “You can see the crowd; look at the enthusiasm. On November 16th, they will tell him (Ganduje) that Ondo State and indeed Southwest are for the PDP.”

The Oyo governor emphasized that while talk is cheap, the people of Ondo State will ultimately have the final say in the election. “The people of Ondo State will speak loud and clear on the 16th of November 2024, and then all of us in this country will hear it loud and clear,” he said.
