Kaduna Police Foil Attempt to Disrupt Local Government Elections, Arrest 21 Suspects

The Kaduna State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in maintaining order during the recently concluded local government elections in the state. At least 21 individuals, identified as political thugs, were apprehended for allegedly attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects were caught red-handed while trying to block transportation routes and interfere with the distribution of election materials. Their plan was to target ad hoc staff members responsible for overseeing election logistics, which could have compromised the integrity of the polls.

Fortunately, operatives from Operation Fushin Kada acted swiftly to thwart the planned obstruction. Upon apprehending the suspects, the police recovered sharp weapons and hard drugs from them. This discovery has sparked concerns about the potential for violence and the involvement of external elements in the attempted disruption.

In a statement, Hassan confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged accordingly. The police are conducting further investigations to determine if there are any links to other individuals or groups involved in the attempted disruption. This move is aimed at ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice and that the electoral process is protected from such incidents in the future.

The successful foiling of the plot is a testament to the diligence and efficiency of the Kaduna State Police Command in maintaining law and order during critical periods. The command’s efforts have helped to safeguard the democratic process and ensure the smooth conduct of the local government elections.
