Moscow has expressed its support for Russian companies seeking legal recourse in the United States. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made this statement on Friday in response to reports that a Russian firm plans to sue the FBI over allegations of spreading false information.

The company in question, ANO Dialog, specializes in countering misinformation. According to a report by the business daily Kommersant, ANO Dialog intends to contest accusations from U.S. authorities claiming it disseminated misleading content online. The U.S. government has categorized ANO Dialog as a ‘Russian state-sponsored actor’ involved in AI-generated deep fake operations aimed at undermining electoral processes.

Peskov emphasized the Kremlin’s endorsement of any legal efforts made by targeted companies. “Of course, we support any attempts to defend their rights in court,” he said, adding that both state and non-state organizations should utilize all legal avenues available.

However, Peskov raised concerns about the impartiality of American courts. He asserted that “one can assume with a high degree of certainty that in such cases, American courts will immediately lose their impartiality, balance, and fairness,” implying that expectations for unbiased judicial proceedings are low.

Vladimir Tabak, the CEO of ANO Dialog, also addressed the allegations, categorically denying any wrongdoing. He contended that the accusations stem from testimonies provided by an FBI agent, which he argued could also implicate U.S. officials in spreading false information.

Tabak announced that ANO Dialog has retained American legal counsel and is preparing to file the lawsuit in Pennsylvania. He noted that the filing date would be confirmed soon. Additionally, he revealed plans to establish an International Association for Fact-Checking, aimed at developing services to counter disinformation in collaboration with countries aligned with Russia’s interests.

This situation underscores the ongoing tensions between Russia and the U.S., particularly regarding issues of misinformation and accountability in the digital age.
