Ogun LG Poll: TRACE moves to enforce traffic restriction order

As Ogun residents prepare for Saturday’s local government elections, the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has pledged to ensure that safety protocols are observed and the restriction order regulating vehicular movement from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm is adhered to.

Media Talk Africa reports that the state has 18 major traffic corridors, spread across the three senatorial districts and 20 local government areas.

The TRACE Commander General, Seni Ogunyemi, in a statement signed by the agency’s spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi on Friday, said it is working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure orderliness during and after the election period.

According to Ogunyemi, they will also be on standby to respond quickly to emergency traffic issues, including crashes, obstacles, and vehicle breakdowns that could prevent election materials from reaching their destination.

Parts of the statement read, “We would assist workflow and monitor the progress of election through different departments in tracking suspicious movement and provide adequate information to the relevant authority as witnessed in locations and on the roads.

“TRACE, in collaboration with other security agencies, under the auspices of the state security architecture, will place on standby rescue equipment for quick response to emergency traffic challenges like crashes, obstructions and vehicle breakdowns that may hinder election materials from getting to their location (s) on time.

“However, only those on essential duties and whose calling is of paramount importance to the success of the election, wearing the Local Government Election Tag as Observers and Security Personnel would be excused from the restriction order.”
