EPL: Why I started Jorginho ahead of Partey against Man City – Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed that Thomas Partey is injured and that is why he isn’t in the squad to face Manchester City on Wednesday.

Arteta explained that Partey is suffering from back pain.

“Unfortunately Thomas felt something in his back muscle and he wasn’t available to play today,” Arteta told Amazon.

In his place, Jorginho who only joined from Chelsea in January, starts against the Premier League champions.

“That’s why we brought him here, for these occasions and because that was a possibility and we planned for that, and Jorgi has the opportunity today,” Arteta added.
