AFCON 2025 qualifier: I’ve done enough — Eguavoen speaks on Boniface, Iheanacho

The interim head coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has spoken on the performances of Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho against Rwanda in their last 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Monday.

The two forwards started the game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, as Eguavoen made several changes to his starting XI.

However, both Boniface and Iheanacho failed to impress.

Boniface played 89 minutes, while Iheanacho was taken off at halftime.

On Iheanacho, Eguavoen said: “Kelechi Iheanacho is an asset to the national team; he needs some encouragement. We spoke with him, and I told him he would start and play for 45 minutes.”

Speaking on Boniface, he added: “I have spoken with Boniface several times; I have done enough. He is important to this team.”
