The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, told the people of Jigawa State that, if elected on February 25, he will revive agriculture and other businesses. Speaking to party supporters at the Aminu Kano Triangle during a rally in Dutse on Wednesday, the former vice‑president pledged to “revive farming and trading, the main occupations of the people of Jigawa.” He said the PDP is prepared to provide assistance for agriculture and commerce, to “open the borders by God’s grace,” and to revive farming, cattle rearing, and other enterprises.
Atiku also promised to prevent teacher strikes and to allocate $10 billion to support youths and women. “We will ensure our children return to school and there will be no teacher strikes,” he declared. “If you vote for our party, I promise to fulfil these commitments.”
PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu urged Jigawa voters to support the PDP and not be misled by the All Progressives Congress. “Whatever development you have seen here is because of the PDP. The APC is not a party for development; it deceives people and tells lies,” he said. He praised former Governor Sule Lamido’s administration for improving the state’s quality of life and thanked him for his long‑standing struggle for democracy. “We are the products of Aminu Kano, and I am happy to speak to you here in Aminu Kano Square. Our politics is about improving ordinary people’s lives, which is why we joined forces to form the PDP,” Ayu added.
Ayu expressed confidence that Atiku Abubakar would secure more than 1.5 million votes in Jigawa, noting the large turnout at the rally. He concluded by urging the electorate to elect a new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in ten days’ time.
