Toni Kroos reveals how Carlo Ancelotti convinced him to join Real Madrid

Toni Kroos has revealed how he was convinced to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid by Carlo Ancelotti.

The legendary midfielder joined Real Madrid after helping Germany win the 2014 World Cup. He made a €25 million move from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

The former Germany international highlighted how Ancelotti assured him that he wanted to further improve the team despite winning the 2013/14 Champions League.

He said it was not easy for him to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid.

Kroos said via MadridXtra, “Ancelotti brought me to Madrid in 2014; he really wanted me after the World Cup.

“They had just won the UEFA Champions League, and he told me he wanted to take the team to the next level.

“It was not easy to leave Bayern to join Real Madrid, but he made things simpler and motivated me.”

Kroos retired from football at the end of the 2023/24 season after winning the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with Real Madrid.
