GTB CEO: Police declare lawyer wanted over alleged defamation

A lawyer and civil rights activist, Edward Ejembi Omaga has been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.

Edward had in a publication alleged infractions in Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB Limited, demanding investigation into the activities of the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Guaranty Trust Holding Company PLC, Segun Agbaje.

Subsequently, the Nigeria Police in a letter dated October 10, invited the activist for questioning.

According to the letter, the police said they were investigating a case of Criminal Defamation, Cyberbullying economic sabotage and conduct likely to cause breach of peace

In another letter dated 25th October, 2024, the police said “it is pertinent to remind you that your non-response is stalling the investigation into this case.

“You are reminded that the office still awaits you for the interview with the Commissioner of Police, General Investigation section Tuesday, 29th October 2024 at room 110, Grand Floor, General Investigation, Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID office complex, Area 10, Garki Abuja”.

In another post on NPF’s official Facebook page on Monday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced that anyone with knowledge of Edward’s whereabouts should immediately contact the nearest police station.
