Arsenal is currently engaged in “advanced talks” to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. The 25-year-old midfielder was on the verge of joining Liverpool last summer but ultimately chose to stay with the La Liga club for an additional season. Now, it seems he is poised to make a move to Arsenal, one of their Premier League rivals, this summer.
This information was disclosed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano through his X account on Tuesday. Romano stated, “Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Martin Zubimendi for summer 2025.” He further elaborated that negotiations are underway with the player’s representatives, and positive discussions have taken place behind the scenes, as reported by @SamiMokbel81_DM. However, he noted that final key steps are still required to complete the deal.
Arsenal plans to activate Zubimendi’s €60 million release clause. Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, is a crucial factor in the advancement of this deal. His involvement is similar to the process that facilitated the club’s acquisition of Declan Rice two years ago. Romano confirmed that Zubimendi is indeed in advanced talks with Arsenal for a potential transfer in July 2025.
