The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has urged Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections, citing the administration’s failure to effectively address the ongoing issue of insecurity. The coalition expressed concern over the Federal Government’s perceived inability to tackle the nation’s security challenges, which have increasingly alarmed both citizens and local as well as foreign investors.

CUPP spokesperson Mark Adebayo condemned the government’s inaction following the recent massacre of 40 farmers in Borno State by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on January 12. He characterized this tragic incident as a stark illustration of the government’s failure to protect its citizens.

The coalition highlighted the rising insecurity across various states in Nigeria, noting that thousands of lives have been lost and millions displaced due to terrorist attacks and kidnappings. They accused the ruling APC of neglecting its responsibility to ensure national security, despite substantial investments made in counter-terrorism initiatives.

CUPP called for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture, stressing the necessity for a government capable of effectively combating insecurity. They urged Nigerians to reject the APC in the 2027 elections, warning of severe consequences if the current administration remains in power beyond that year. Additionally, the coalition expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called for decisive action to restore peace and stability in the country.
