Rivers PDP crisis: Woko, others react to court ruling, pledge support for Ewor-led faction

The plaintiffs responsible for the legal action that led to the dismissal of Aaron Chukwuemeka as the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have broken their silence following the court ruling on Monday.

Edwin Woko, Nelson Dike, and two other members of the group expressed satisfaction with the judgment of the Rivers State High Court, which effectively removed Chukwuemeka and other members of the state executive.

In a statement issued by Woko on behalf of the group, they expressed a vote of confidence in Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State, as well as in the Acting State Chairman, Nname Robinson Ewor.

The group pledged their support for the Ewor-led PDP and urged their followers to do the same.

They expressed confidence in Ewor’s ability to lead the party to victory in the 2027 elections.

The statement emphasised their commitment to resisting any form of political injustice in the state, adding that the court order which ousted Chukwuemeka and “his co-travelers” marked the end of their “political gamble” within the PDP.

On Monday, a Rivers State High Court ruled that the congresses held by Chukwuemeka and members of the PDP loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, were null and void, stating that the congresses were conducted in violation of an existing court order halting the process.

The court also restrained Chukwuemeka and members of the PDP state executive from parading themselves as state executives of the party in the state.
