Some hoodlums in the Epe area of Lagos State are exploiting the naira crisis to attack local banks. According to an anonymous source from Epe, the banks targeted were Zenith, Access, and Keystone. Online images show the banks with shattered windows, and many have temporarily suspended operations as a result of the attacks.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incidents, stating, “Three banks were attacked in Epe but our men are already on the ground.” Earlier, on Friday morning, reports indicated that fighting broke out along the Lagos‑Ikorodu Expressway over the scarcity of the new naira notes and the hardships caused by the policy. Suspected troublemakers in Mile 12, Ketu, and Ojota took to the streets, attacking commuters and creating chaos.

In addition, pockets of protests have emerged in Agege, Iyana‑Ipaja, and Igando, also linked to the ongoing naira crisis.
