EPL: Hang in there — Gary Neville warns Arsenal after Man City win

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said it was important that Arsenal “made a statement” against Manchester City.

The Gunners hammered the Premier League champions 5-1 on Sunday.

The victory took Mikel Arteta’s men within six points of Liverpool.

Martin Ødegaard opened the scoring in the second minute before Erling Haaland equalised after the break.

But goals from Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and then Kai Havertz and Ethan Nwaneri sealed a big win for Arsenal.

Neville has now urged them to keep up that intensity for the rest of the season if they want to catch Liverpool.

“It’s so important Arsenal made a statement today and they’ve done just that,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Mikel Arteta has to get that intensity and tempo from the last 30 minutes for the rest of the season.

“Hang in there. Be there if Liverpool fall.”
