South African land, dignity more important than US aid – Shehu Sani carpets Donald Trump

Former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has urged South Africa to continue defending it’s sovereignty amid the US President, Donald Trump’s Executive Order, cutting financial assistance to the country.

Media Talk Africa recalls that Trump had frozen US financial aid to South Africa, citing a law that allegedly allows land to be seized from white farmers.

According to Trump, the law would “enable the government of South Africa to seize ethnic minority Afrikaners’ agricultural property without compensation,”

The Executive Order was signed on Friday by the US President despite Johannesburg’s denial of the law.

Reacting, Shehu Sani in a post on X said South African African land and dignity is more important than the US aid.

According to him, “South Africans should stand firm in defence of their sovereignty and laws and in defiance of the so-called suspension of Aid.

“Actually, if that is what foreign Aid is all about, stopping it is in the best interest of Africa. South African land and dignity is more important than foreign aid”.
