I won’t respond to a GOAT – Mourinho mocks Icardi for calling him ‘The Crying One’

Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho has hit back at Galatasaray’s Mauro Icardi as their online spat continues.

Mourinho had accused their rivals of playing “handball” in an Instagram post earlier this week.

His comments referred to the standard of refereeing in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Icardi responded to his jibe by calling Mourinho “The Crying One,” mocking the Portuguese’s famous “The Special One” nickname.

“I am sure that I am a special one, not the special one,” Mourinho said in a press conference on Wednesday.

“With 25 years of career and with 26 titles—not with one match. There is not one match to define my career. My career is a career of 25 years.

“In relation to the comments or the [social media] posts of Icardi, Icardi is a GOAT. I refuse to comment on a GOAT’s words. He’s too big—I do not comment.”

Last month, Mourinho alleged that there is a lot of “scandal” in Turkish Süper Lig games following a controversial match between league leaders Galatasaray and Göztepe.
