Troops neutralize terrorists, dismantle hideouts in Zamfara, Sokoto

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralized several terrorists’ commanders and dismantled multiple hideouts in Zamfara and Sokoto states.

The military operation carried out between February 1 and 10, 2025, ensured a major blow to terrorists’ networks operating in the affected states and restoring security to affected communities.

Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, explained in a statement that among those neutralized were terrorists’ leaders Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje, and Dan Mai Dutsi.

According to Abdullahi, the battles took place in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, as well as Isa LGA of Sokoto State.

He further explained, “Military operations targeted and dismantled over 40 terrorist hideouts, including those in Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji.”

The aftermath of the operations also resulted in the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, preventing further attacks on innocent civilians.

He added that troops also rescued kidnapped victims and offered relief to families that had been living in fear.

Abdullahi assured the military’s determination to sustain its offensive against terrorism across the North-West and parts of Niger State and urged the public to provide intelligence on fleeing terrorists, including the notorious Bello Turji and his associates.

He assured that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
