Chelsea in striker crisis with Nicolas Jackson out until April

Chelsea striker, Nicolas Jackson, has been ruled out until after the international break in March.

According to the UK Telegraph, Jackson underwent a scan on Wednesday, which confirmed damage to his hamstring.

The Senegal international will not be available for selection until at least April 2, when the Blues take on Tottenham.

Chelsea head coach, Enzo Maresca, will be without an out-and-out striker for the foreseeable future, with Marc Guiu also out injured.

The club had believed that Jackson would not be ruled out for too long with the injury he picked up in the win over West Ham United.

But a final scan has confirmed their worst fears, and Jackson now faces a significant time on the sidelines as Chelsea look to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Jackson will miss Friday night’s trip to Brighton, as well as the journey to Aston Villa and games against Southampton, Leicester City, and Arsenal. Chelsea also play a two-legged Europa Conference League last-16 tie in March that Jackson will sit out.

Christopher Nkunku is likely to fill in as a striker, and Maresca is now likely to choose between the Frenchman and Cole Palmer as a false nine.
